A mink stalking a muskrat at the beaver lodge. As I have mentioned before, it is common for beavers to share their lodge with muskrats in the winter time. Mink are the main predators for muskrats around here. Last week at Georgette’s lodge, I noticed a mink on the food cache, and a muskrat nearby. The muskrat swam around and then ducked into the lodge, and a moment later, the mink was examining the shore where the muskrat had gone. Thankfully, I did not see the mink succeed in catching a muskrat
