This is a sea lamprey…an invasive species in Michigan’s waters. A single sea lamprey can destroy upwards of 40 lbs. of native fish. The Michigan DNR continues to work towards controlling the impact sea lamprey have on our native fish populations. As part of the continuing effort, we’ll be testing a new pheromone in the Manistee and Betsie rivers at Tippy Dam and Homestead Dam. We ask that visitors to the area avoid contact with the traps or lamprey cages. These tests are crucial to finding new a
